What’s Provided?

Kayaks
I have a fleet of four Cobra Fish-n-Dive sit-on-top kayaks.  Each kayak is rigged with a padded high-back seat, a dry-storage container, anchor, and a small cooler for your water and snack.  Most trips are limited to a maximum of 3 anglers.  Due to the size of the kayaks and the physical demands of open water paddling, anglers weighing less than 90 pounds will not be allowed.

Safety Equipment
Each angler will be provided with a personal flotation vest and a signal whistle.

On each trip your guide will always carry a waterproof VHF marine radio-telephone, cell phone, compass and charts, GPS receiver, a first aid kit, and marine safety distress signals (flairs).  Your guide has been professionally trained in First Aid, CPR, and Water Rescues.

It is of the up most importance to discuss with your guide any physical and/or medical limitations you may have prior to scheduling your trip.  Our goal is for you to have a safe memorable experience; not to push you the limits of your endurance.

Fishing Gear
Anglers are welcome to bring their favorite rod, or I can provide you with one.  If you wish to bring your own rod and reel, please discuss this with your guide in advance.  I want to make sure that you have tackle that is suitable for the day’s trip.  I will provide lures, leaders, and other terminal tackle.  Many of our anglers are only interested in the sport and practice catch-and-release.  If you wish to keep your catch for the table, please make sure your guide knows this well in advance.  I want to make sure I have adequate accommodations to preserve your catch.  Please note that our “Everglades” trips are reserved for catch-and-release fly anglers only.

Fly Anglers
Depending on your casting skills a 6 to 9 weight outfit with a weight forward floating line will serve you well for the majority of the areas I fish.  I can provide you with a rod, but I encourage you to bring an outfit you a comfortable casting (please see the additional page for fly anglers only).  For the “Everglades” trips, and especially if you wish to concentrate on the ‘exotics’, a 4wt outfit is a blast.  In any event, we should discuss what type of outfit you wish to bring.  Then, depending on current conditions, I’ll bring enough additional rods to meet expected conditions.

I will provide leaders and flies.  You are welcome to bring your own, but I am a commercial tier, and I will have an adequate selection of proven patterns for the trip at hand. If you are a tier, and wish to fish your own flies, please contact me in advance to discuss what patterns should prove productive.

Lost Tackle
The cost of the trip includes the use of tackle.  I will provide rods, reels, and terminal tackle.  If you loose my rods overboard, I will expect you to cover replacement cost.

Flies and lures, and other terminal tackle are included in the cost of the trip.  I fully expect some to be lost on every trip, but there is a limit as to how many I can provide without any additional charge.

Ice and Water
Each kayak will be equipped with a small cooler, with ice, and four 20oz bottles of drinking water.
