Pine Island Sound in Lee County Florida is wide, shallow, and has some of
the largest grass flats anywhere in Florida. Pine Island Sound and
Matlacha Pass are both exceptional place to
kayak fish. Sight casting to redfish in Pine Island Sound is as
challenging as any sight fishing any where in the world. In addition
to redfish, Pine Island Sound has an abundance of speckled trout, and
plenty of snook along the edges of mangrove line shores.
Tarpon come into the sound early in the season, there are good tarpon fishing opportunities in Pine Island Sound through out the late spring and into the summer. I only offer full day trips to Pine Island Sound. During the summer months, these trips start before daylight. The sound offers some exceptional top-water action in warmer weather, from pre-dawn through early morning. Action that is well worth missing a little sleep.
