Charlotte Harbor from a kayak fisherman's perspective
is almost an inland sea that offers almost unlimited kayak fishing
possibilities.
At its northern reaches are the Peace and Myakka Rivers who's dark tannic
waters are the wintering grounds for snook, resident tarpon, and manatees.
The Peace River is so wild and scenic in appearance that it's alligator
lined shores were once used at the backdrops for Tarzan movies. On the south Charlotte Harbor merges with Pine Island Sound and Matlacha Pass. Pine Island Sound is world famous for redfish, redfish who at times can be more challenging than a tailing bone fish to sight cast fish. Charlotte Harbor is open to the Gulf of Mexico via the Boca Grande Pass, one of the deepest natural passes in the Gulf.
