Redfish in the Shallows

On-the-Water Intermediate Saltwater Flyfishing School

This is a two day hands-on intermediate level flyfishing school,  developed for the saltwater fly angler wishing to push his angling skills to the next level.  This school would also be appropriate for the advanced freshwater fly angler who wishes to refine his skills to meet the demands of the saltwater environment.

Continuing the the development of your flycasting skill is an important phase of this curriculum.  You'll receive hands-on instruction on dealing with some of the challenges of saltwater fly angling.  You will learn techniques and tips for casting large flies, dealing with the wind, and casting heavy sinking lines during the on-the-water fly casting sessions.  Each student will have the opportunity to cast a variety of fly tackle including: shooting head and very fast sinking lines.

Students will be introduced to the opportunities afforded fly angles by employing the use of kayaks.  These small versatile craft were manufactured with the angler in mind.  They are light, stable, and seaworthy; allowing fly anglers access to both very shallow areas as well as nearshore open waters.
